Meeting Point International Opens New Head Office in Cyprus

High-Caliber delegations and over 120 guests celebrated the inauguration in Nicosia at the new premises.

Munich/Nicosia, September 16 2016 – After five months of operating in the island, Meeting Point Cyprus, the destination management company, officially opened its headquarters in Nicosia on September 15th, 2016. The company’s CEO Charis Papacharalambous, FTI Group Managing directors, Dietmar Gunz and Roula Jouny celebrated the inauguration event together with numerous officials, tourism industry stake holders and Mr. Yiorgos Lakkotrypis, Minister of Energy, Commerce, Industry and Tourism.

Located in the heart of the vibrant capital, Nicosia, the 300 square meters headquarters currently consists of 13 employees working in sales & marketing, reservations, operations and accounting & finance. The team is expected to grow by at least 25 members by March 2017 to support the introduction of 10 weekly flights from Germany as of summer 2017. Charis Papacharalambous, CEO Meeting Point Cyprus, said “Due to our substantial investments in the destination, we were met with tremendous success by now. We are convinced that Cyprus has a lot of potential as a year round holiday destination in which we will continue to develop and expand.“

The Minister of Energy, Commerce, Industry and Tourism, Mr. Yiorgos Lakkotrypis who addressed the event explained how the “country’s strategy is aligned with FTI’s strategy” and that FTI’s move was expected to prove a “game changer” for the industry in Cyprus . Mr. Lakkotrypis proceeded to say, “The tourism industry has been looking for someone to drive the German market to its potential. Investment of this magnitude covering not only Germany but also Switzerland and hopefully soon France, the Netherlands and other source markets where the group is engaged in are truly welcomed and we are looking forward to their fulfillment.”

Angelos Loizou, CTO Chairman said “FTI group’s initiative to invest in flights from all over Germany and even Switzerland for summer 2017, is in line with Cyprus’ efforts and targets. This initiative meets our common strategic goal for the development of our traditional tourist markets and for prolonging the summer season further into the winter months.” He further added “We, at the CTO, are very pleased to see that our joint venture already witnessed an increase in tourist arrivals in 2016.”
